Montmartre funicular

Montmartre funicular, located in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, is since 1991 an automatic inclined elevator made of two vehicles. It leads to the top of the “Butte Montmartre” giving an access to the Sacred Heart Basilica. Opened in July 1900, it was totally renovated in 1935 and then in 1991. 108 meters long, it climbs the 36 meters ascent in less than a minute and thirty seconds. Managed by RATP, the Paris public transport operator, it has provided services to more than three million and six hundred passengers in 2014.
